mätästävä. Varsien tupet väljät. Tähkä yksinäinen,
villa valkea.
Cotton
grass is a native, tussock-forming graminoid. Its
culm varies from 20–70cm in length and is sheated to half its
length. The acaulescent leaves and scales are tightly compacted.
Cotton grass foliage dies back each winter, but basal portions of
leaves and stems remain green. The infl orescense is a densely
tufted cyme composd of multifl owered spikelets. The
fruit is an achene. Fl 5–6. Br Common in marshes.
